Interesting one. The London Fire Brigade is attempting to reduce house fires by encouraging drunk people to get takeaways on their way home instead of cooking in their kitchen when they get home. I always make toast when I get in after a night out…what do other people do, fry chips in oodles of oil?! Although, to be honest, I know an ex-JC’er that has burnt Weetabix whilst sober.
Research has revealed that a quarter of accidental house fires in London are caused by 18 to 35 year olds when attempting to cook at home when drunk. Ryan, did they tell you this in fire marshal training? It doesn’t surprise me though, the amount of times that hideous fire alarm went off at University because of drunken yobs cooking sausages was unbelievable. FYI – I was a vegetarian at this point. It wasn’t me.
Anyway, to combat this frightening statistic, the above ‘Last Night A Burger Saved My Life’ ad will be placed across various print outlets and London Underground stations including Bond Street, Tottenham Court Road and Holborn. People can also upload pictures of their takeaways to London Fire Brigade’s Facebook page. The best takeaway picture will then receive a £25 voucher from the online takeaway booking service Just Eat. I dread to think what these pictures will look like. I wonder what Dr. Christian will make of this?
