George Lucas and Blu-Ray have just topped the league in jaw-dropping PR stunts of the year with this beauty.
Officially released in the UK last Monday, Star Wars: The Complete Saga and individual trilogy box sets are due for release in the US on Friday, and Fox Home Entertainment has been busy hosting events throughout the week, culminating in a party tonight in London with celeb fans and original cast members rubbing shoulders.
The party is due to take place at the top of the BT Tower in the heart of London’s West End, where Anthony Daniels the original actor who played C3PO will switch on a one-day only ‘blue ray of light’ at the top of the tourist attraction thus turning it into the ‘world’s largest lightsaber’. Daniels has also been spotted greeting fans and signing copies of the Blu-ray box set and greeting fans in the newly-minted Westfield Shopping Centre in Stratford.
Short of releasing on May 4th, the combination of an epic Guinness World Record stunt, an iconic film franchise, as well as celebs from the original cast make for a ‘force’ to be reckoned with.
Elsewhere, in a galaxy not that far away, JC client Best Buy UK will be giving fans the ultimate Jedi experience by bringing alive some of the series’ best-loved characters to mark the launch of the new Star Wars Saga Blu-Ray Box-set in stores on Saturday 17th September. Come equipped with your own light sabers and join forces with the Jedi in the battle against the villain Darth Vader, as well as a chance to win an HD entertainment package including a 42” Panasonic TV, Panasonic HTiB Home theatre system and the Star Wars Saga Blu-Ray Box-set.
