As the iconic BBC Television Centre goes on the market and five BBC departments complete their relocation from London to Manchester, we think it’s apt to share JC’s thoughts on the great North vs South debate.
Much has been said about the strategic advantage and disadvantage of this move, but now the greatest northern and southern wits from JCPR are entering the fray.
Finally, Gemma (a.k.a Northern Rock) faces up to Alex (a.k.a Southern Comfort)…

| Northern people have better manners and say sorry when they bump into you | Southerners pronounce every word in a sentence and understand simple grammar |
| We don’t have to get onto a packed, sweaty tube to go to work | We don’t have to fry stuff to make it taste nice and we don’t put chips in bread |
| Chips with curry sauce or gravy is how a decent meal SHOULD BE SERVED | It’s no coincidence that the country’s capital is in the South, not the North |
| The Lake District or Clapham – where would you rather be? | Will and Kate chose to get married in Westminster. Not ‘York-Minster’ |
| It doesn’t cost £4 for a pint in a pub up North | Our beers don’t have names that make you think you’re drinking blended road kill |
| Some of TV’s best dramas – Shameless, State of Play, Cracker – were written by Paul Abbott from Burnley | We would NEVER allow a programme like Last of the Summer Wine to be made, let alone watch it. EVER |
Strong, convincing arguments from both there. In the end, the BBC is moving North so it can’t be all that bad can it?
Oh dear.
