21st May 1990.

Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher was struggling to retain her leadership of the Conservative Party, Microsoft released Windows 3.0, Deirdre Barlow risked losing her house to become an extension of the Rovers Return and most importantly, England were preparing to depart for Italia 90, where they would ultimately suffer the heartbreak of elimination on penalties at the hands of Germany. Boooooo

Most importantly, the Official World Cup Song had just been released.

World In Motion by New Order, featuring a now legendary rap performance by England player John Barnes, got the whole nation ‘Singing for England’ and is one of the most iconic football songs of all time.
Fast forward 20 years and Barnes has returned to unite the country once again as Rooney, Lampard and the boys head for South Africa and World Cup Glory. Only this time, it’s in a new advert for MARS.
